Well June has been a month to forget, I dilly dallied about between different stakes and formats without really settling down, as a result I had a losing month at the tables. I did run below EV for the 4th month running but I’m thinking long term and with every bad run there’s a good run just around the corner, I can’t wait for mine. I’m not going to make excuses though, I played horrible in a lot of hands this month, I guess every mistake I make is a mistake I’ll learn from.
Right now I’m half way towards making Supernova, it’s something I probably should have achieved earlier but I’ve found it difficult adjusting to people playing wierd against me because of my status, I probably over adjusted and that’s part of the reason for struggling lately. I’ve gone through my database recently and picked up on a few leaks I had, hopefully I can fix them and bring my game forward into July, I feel I’m slowly improving which is a plus I guess, something I can take out of this month anyway.
So 50k VPPS is the target I’m aiming for, July 31st is the date I’m looking to achieve it. One thing I’m going to make sure of doing this month is sticking at the same limit ($50NL fullring 20-50). Focus and concentration is what I need and switching between limits isn’t helping the mentality I have towards my game. The VPP rate at $50NL fullring is around 1/6.25 hands so I’m looking to play around 300k hands from now until the end of July, It’ll be really tough but as long as I focus on one game I’ll have a chance.
I’m not going to play any cash games today because of the England match and the Sunday tournaments I play but I’ll be starting back up first thing tomorrow.
The tournament I spoke about in previous posts will take place on Wednesday 30 June at 8pm GMT, I’m pretty sure there are no world cup games on that day so there won’t be a conflict. It’ll be password protected and open to every reader of my blog, I’ll post the tourney i.d and password on Wednesday. It’ll be $1 entry with $20 on my head, anyone who makes the final table will receive a ticket to the Sunday 1/4 million worth $11.

Just a short update because I’m feeling really bad at the moment. I played around 4500 hands yesterday and managed to lose around 6 buy ins at $50NL, for some reason I just find it impossible to win during the weekends, I think I’ve been down money over the past 4-5 weeks, I don’t really understand because weekend games are always better but I guess I’ll have to ride through it. I wasn’t really feeling too great yesterday and stayed in bed an extra 2 hours today because I was aching all over, I feel like I’ve gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.
I should have taken the day off today feeling the way I do but because the weekend games are always good I decided to play a little. I managed to lose around $150 in 800 hands so I just quit. I’ll take the rest of the day off and hope I’m over this soon, hopefully I’ll get back to grinding tomorrow.
Poker hasn’t been going too well for me this month, I’m about break even at $50NL and down a few buy ins at $100, a lot of it’s because of running below ev but that’s no longer an excuse, I have to try and adjust to the way people play against me, I’ve found it quite difficult, people playing back at me, calling down light or floating me, 3betting,4betting, it’s nice when you have a hand but that’s rarely the case. My steal success is only 46% which is pretty low and a result of being played back at a lot, I’ve got to try and use it to my advantage.
For now I’m going to stick with the 20-50bb tables, probably staying at 50nl for a while whilst I try to adjust to the shortstack pushing ranges and build up my bankroll. I should make supernova in 3-4 weeks time and will have around 250,000 fpps to buy the $4000 bonus with.
Hopefully I’ll turn it around this month, hope you guys are running better than me (:
Hey guys, just a quick update to let you know how I’m doing.
I’ve now played around 45k hands for the month , mainly at the $50NL full ring 20-50bb tables. I’ve been trying a few things out this month , playing a little $100nl 100bb deep tables, a little $50NL 100bb deep tables and the same with the 20-50bb tables, trying to find a format I feel most comfortable playing. For now I’ve decided to stick with the 20-50bb tables whilst I build up my bankroll to an amount where I can move to the deeper tables and open my game up a little, try new things out and not worry if I lose 20-30 buyins in the attempt of improving my game.
Due to the the world cup I’m going to aim for the lower target of 150k hands this month, I’ve played around 40k hands at $50NL full ring 20-50bb tables and around 5k of 100NL and $50NL deeper tables. I think I’m going to jump up to the $100NL 20-50bb tables for the rest of the month as the vpp’s are earned a lot faster than at $50NL and I’m hoping to make supernova within the next 3-4 weeks.
In other news I’m going to set up a special tournament at the end of the month, It’ll take place Wednesday the 30th, I’m pretty sure there aren’t any world cup matches that day. It’ll be $1 to enter and I’ll have a bounty on my head, anyone who makes the final table will also win a $11 ticket to the Sunday 1/4 million. I’ll post more details at the end of the month.
Six days in and I’ve played 20k hands at $50NL. I’m 10k hands behind pace for 150k but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get in some 6-7k hand days this month so I should comfortably get there. Getting to 200k might be a tough goal though, especially with the football world cup starting next week. I’m running below ev again this month which isn’t nice considering the 15 buyins below ev between 50-100NL the other month, part of the reason for my recent downswing but hopefully by the end of the month I’ll be either running above of close to even, or I’ll only win half as much as I should this month /:
At the end of the month I’m going to hold a $1 tournament with a bounty on my head, there will also be a sunday $250k gtd tournament ticket for everyone who makes the final table, I’ll post details a week before the tournament starts.
