Challenge Update #2

23 Oct

Some bad news I’m afraid, last Thursday I broke my hand boxing and unfortunately it’s my mouse hand. I tried continuing at $25NL but my hand was too painful and I couldn’t concentrate. I’m determined to get in the 600k hands one way or another so I’ve decided to drop down to $2 for a while and just grind like crazy, my hands killing me but with enough pain killers I’m sure I can get in the hands.

I don’t mind grinding $2NL because I have pretty much no ego, what’s been refreshing is the number of guys telling me how awesome it is to have an opportunity to play against a pokerstars player and I’ve been suprised by the number of people giving me possitive feedback about the micro stakes video’s I made for Pokerstars, personally I haven’t watched them because their my first video’s and I figured they were probably awful lol.

I might just go for the 600k hands at $2NL and forget about the $25nl I played earlier in the month, it’ll make the challenge more easier to follow. As of now I’ve played 8k hands in the past couple of days and have another 70 days to go which would make an average of  around 8600 hands a day. I’ll try and get in 7-8k hands daily for now and increase the volume as my hand improves, wish me luck.

I’m doing a challenge to play 600k hands by the end of the year, I set out to do it at 25nl but broke my hand and can’t concentrate because of the pain, I moved down to 2nl so I can continue the challenge because I don’t need to concentrate as much at 2nl.

    @Cyfun Thankyou, I broke my hand boxing ) :

I guess the advantages and disadvantages are many but the main differences are you can work which ever hours you like playing poker but when things go badly it’s not a gtd weekly wage like a regular job.

I’ve always wanted to go into one of the emergency services, either fire brigade or police service, it’s pretty difficult getting in atm with the budget cuts so I’ll have to wait and see what happens.

    Hi Chipstar!

Im a swedish fan of and u and read ur blog sometimes. And Im looking for som advices! Would be REALLY glad u could answer!

OK. Dont know if u will read… but I continue writing …

I played poker for 4 years and first time i played texas holdem, i rly felt that i love this. My biggest dream is to start living on poker… but I really dont know how to do, start….
My biggest win in poker online is when i won 10,000$ last year when playing, 11 dollar rebuy 70k GTD tournament, which u probably know what tournament that is. Thats almost 1,5 year now. While Ive just moved from my home, i havnt got a chance to play so much under this 1,5 year. but now this last 10 couples of months ive been trying to learn how to make poker as a living! but cant say i succeed.

Im been studing, and get around 800$/month, which i put as goal, to just deposite, 150 every month, and so i did. I play a lot of multitable SNG 18 and 27 table. 3,50 dollar to… 15 dollar depend on how much money I got. Then i play so i have enough money to play tournament. like 11 dollar rebuy, i once won, sometimes bigger tournament 50 dollar, 109 50k GTD (not so often). I win money in multitables…

What should i do to make poker as a living?
Could i only play tournaments? Is that possible?
I dont play cashgame a lot. Because, u know, i wanna hit big. Is that what i should start with? As I said I just deposite 150dollar a month on poker since januari. thats10 months now in october. 5 months, i ended the month with 600-700 dollar +. The other months i finish my budget in the last days of the month. I quess i played for maybe 9 > 10.000 dollar this year on pokerstars,(not from my own pocket, u know, totally in tournaments, and sit and go, but never had all the money at once. u understand what i mean?).

What should i do?? Im really confused. Now, when i played so many tournaments the last couple of months i feel i really start to learn how to play. And often take place in the money, but just so I can play even more tournaments. I know sometimes i will hit big again! Never know when that whit happen tought, thats enoying. But i wanna live on poker. Play in 3000>3500dollar/month and im satisfied!

    PLEASE READ!

    $5.50 NL Hold’em [2R1A, $30K Guaranteed]
Think i reached the finale table there and ended up 9th place like 5-6 times this year. But the GOOD MONEY, is just as u know when u reach at least TOP 3.
Just want you to know that I have little experience, thats why telling u this!!

desperate cry for help! starting to lose the spark of Poker

HOPE I DID NOT WRITE TO MUCH SO IT SCARES U OF TO READ EVERYTHING!

Hey Zeb, my advice would be to choose what form of poker you like to play and stick at it for now. The best way to succeed in the long run would be to play with in your bankroll, if you only have $150 just play $3 tournaments until you have more, if you get to $500 move upto $10 tournaments. Multi table tournaments can have a lot of variance so you could end up going broke before your next cash, thats why you have to play with in your bankroll. I started off with a $30 deposit and have never gone broke because I’ve always moved down to a limit I know I can beat to rebuild, there’s no harm in playing lower when things don’t go your way, you have t be patient.

And don’t forget to study a tonne, there’s a lot of useful threads on the twoplustwo forum if you haven’t already checked them out.

    Goodluck
